At last, we arrived in Napa, where we checked into the John Muir Inn.As soon as we were settled, we went to the home of our Schmooze host, Jerry Medlin and his charming wife Kim. Soon Jessica Dewell arrived (her drive was about twice as long as ours), as did Dennis Reinhardt, and we all enjoyed the sunset from the patio. We soon discovered that there were no wireless connections available for the SchmoozeCams. Jerry was eager to give wireless a try, so a quick shopping trip led to the installation of a router whose mysteries would keep us intrigued for days.

Jessica and Eric discuss driving conditionsWe were all much too tired to go out for dinner, so we had a couple of large pizzas delivered. Then it was time to say good night, so we headed back to the hotel.
Early the next morning, I saw a hot-air balloon full of tourists quietly descending not far from our location.
