Saturday Food Excursions

On Saturday seven of us piled into Dan's big van -- shaped like a Starfleet
shuttlecraft, this year repainted a cheerful bright blue -- and head for
the upscale Cap City Diner. Here Andrei, a bit of Gary, Nida, ChrisT, and Eric
are visible in the back.
Dan and Rosemary are in the front seat, riding up High
Street. We were forced off the freeway by some construction, and it took
us a while to find the diner (it was a couple miles farther south, than
Eric thought it was).
Dan smiles, when we finally arrvied.
Eric sips on his root beer float.
Rosemary's calamari appetizer.
Nida and her oysters appetizer.
That evening we decided we were in the mood for Japanese food. Eric called
his Columbus-restaurant-expert friend, who recommended The Japan Restaurant.
It was a fair distance from the hotel, but the freeway was open again,
so we got there a lot faster than expected: well before the reservation
time. Gary, Rosemary, ChrisT, and Dan wait next to the
specials sign, in the lobby.
Rosemary waits in the Japan lobby, wearing her new hat.
Gary lurks behind a potted plant, taking surreptitious
pictures.
Eric and Rosemary continue to wait.
When we arrived at our table, we snapped this picture of
Gary's iced green tea, and then put away our cameras for the meal.
